News

  • Hello!

The Board of Directors for Therapeutic Recreation for the Disabled met to discuss plans for our programs, especially softball for the year.  As we all know, the challenges we all face during the COVID-19 pandemic are significant.  In March, we saw all of our lives change forever as we worked collectively to try and keep each other safe and healthy.  Things seemed to be improving and then in May, many things opened up in and around Butler County.   Information provided shows that cases of COVID are increasing rapidly and currently, Butler County is considered one of the hot spots within the state of Ohio.

As we have stated from the very beginning of all of this, our number one goal is to ensure the health and safety of our players, volunteers, families and friends while participating in softball.  Because of the spike of COVID cases and the fact that there is no known cure for this virus, our board unanimously agreed to officially cancel our 2020 softball season.  We felt that we could not run the program and ensure the health and safety of our participants.  This was not an easy decision and we’re extremely disappointed as I am sure each of you is as well.

If you already registered and paid to play this year, you have options!  You can ask for a refund and we will get a refund to you.  If your check has not been processed, we can tear the check up.  A last option is that we can hold you application and money and apply it to the 2021 season.  We anticipate that our softball fees will remain the same for 2021.  Please let us know what option you would like and we will take care of it.

Thanks for your understanding!  Please stay safe and well and we look forward to seeing you all for what we hope will be an amazing season in 2021.

    Steve
Commissioner of TRD Adult Softball League

  • 6-29-2020 UPDATE:  We continue to monitor the COVID situation in and around Butler County Ohio to determine if we can make it safe for our players and volunteers.  Our plan is to have a special Therapeutic Recreation board meeting to discuss in mid-July.  At that point we hope to have a decision about this year's season.  Thanks for your patience!  Look for another update towards the end of July.  Until then, stay safe and healthy!
  • 5-26-2020 UPDATE:  Some of you might have seen a recent article published by the Journal News on several things, including the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League.  In the article, it was mentioned that we intend to start softball in August.

Many of you have also heard that the State of Ohio is loosening restrictions and allowing more things to open.  This includes non-contact and limited contact sports, which our softball league would fall into.  As we’ve been stating from the very beginning.  The health and safety of our players and volunteers is and will always be our primary concern, regardless of what others do around us.  Until we can feel comfortable in providing a safe environment for everyone and ensuring we can comply with all the Ohio conditions for conducting the league, we will not play.

We are hopeful that we will still play this year, but we continue to take a cautious approach and see how things go.  It would not be responsible to start our season and then see a spike in COVID cases and have to delay or shut things down.  So, for now and until we know more, we are cautiously optimistic that we will start our season some time in mid to late August.  Before then, we will continue to monitor the environment and situation closely and will not make an official decision until late June or sometime in July.  At that time, we will communicate again the status of our league.  If the decision is to start our league in August, details will be shared about when and how to register if you’ve not already registered.

As always, if you have questions or not sure about the league status, check the softball hotline, TRD Facebook page or our website.  Those are your best sources for updates and accurate information.  Please do not look to any other sources for information on our league as they are likely not fully-accurate.   Thanks for your patience as we continue to look forward safely together.
  • 5-15-2020 UPDATE:  Here we find another Friday where normally, we’d be playing.  I wanted to provide an update to everyone as some of you may have heard the State of Ohio is loosening restrictions including the possibility of non-contact and some contact sports.  This is encouraging news and we’re optimistic, but we are also guarded.  As we’ve communicated in the past, the health and safety of our players, volunteers as well as family and friends is our greatest concern.  We also recognize that some of our participants may have health issues that place them in a high-risk category for adverse effects from the virus.  We weigh all of these factors and as such, our plan is to continue to watch the situation develop while working on solutions that would keep us compliant with state and CDC health and safety guidelines and allow us to run our league in a safe and healthy manner.  Plans for this are ongoing.  Our hope is that we will still get our softball season in this year, but we are unclear at this point still when that might begin.  We will look to provide you with another update towards the end of May.

Until, then, stay safe and healthy!!!

  • 4-24-2020 UPDATE:  As the weather warms and we near our normal opening day night thoughts likely turn to if and when we will get to play this year.  The State of Ohio Governor has announced the loosening of some restrictions to the current stay-at-home policy.  We will watch these changes to see how it will impact our league and act accordingly.  If we receive information that allows us to play, we will make the announcement of a revised schedule and sign-up period.  First and foremost is our concern for the safety of our players and volunteers, so we won't make any specific announcements until we know we would comply with any revised state order and that we can provide a safe environment.  Stay tuned for more information as we receive it.  Until then, stay safe and healthy!
  • 2020 ADULT SOFTBALL SEASON IS ON HOLD INDEFINITELY!   A new order by the State of Ohio prohibits public gatherings of more than 50 people at places including arenas and stadiums.  This would apply to our softball league.  The order is in effect immediately and can only be lifted by order of the Governor or Director of Health.  Because of this and in the interest of everyone’s health and safety, we are suspending our adult softball program indefinitely.  We are uncertain when we may be given permission to resume our league, but when we learn of this, we will pass along the information.  Please feel free to call our hotline at 513-275-9903, where we’ll leave updates.  Until then, please stay safe and healthy!
  • 3-17-2020: We are receiving questions asking about our 2020 softball season.  News and information is coming out daily on COVID-19 and we continue to monitor and watch what's occurring in the country and the State of Ohio.  Current recommendations are limiting ALL PUBLIC ACTIVITIES where 10 or more may gather.  As such, we've seen schools close, sports cancelled temporarily.  At this time, we believe it's premature to make a decision impacting our softball league that is not scheduled to start until April 3rd.  We will continue to watch the situation and will offer updates here and other sources as warranted.   Until then, please stay safe and healthy!
  • 3-9-2020:  IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT COVID-19 (Coronavirus).  We know that many of our players are medically-fragile.  As such, given the current environment and concerns for everyone's safety, we are allowing players to cancel their registration to play in the league for the 2020 season.  If you have already registered, but have decided not to play, you have the option of requesting a full refund or a credit towards the 2021 season.  To do this, simply email Steve Smith at steve@nuxhallmiracleleague.org  Please include the player's name.  Thank you!  Be safe and healthy!
  • Please go to the Programs tab for an application if you need one.
